Hello and thanks for reading my very first post on my very first blog.  In the words of someone who used to be famous:  “Who am I? What am I doing here?”  Well… I think that’s what this blog will ultimately be about.  So, without further… (you know…)

Just a bit of background… I’m a forty-something, married mother of two living in a development referred to by the locals as “Wellington” — hence the name of the blog.  I was inspired by Alistair Cooke’s series on the BBC Radio called “Letter from America”.  I spent some time living in London when I was in college and I loved listening to this program, or should that be “programme”?   I love a lot of English things — too many to list here, but I’m sure they will come up from time to time.

I decided to start this blog for two reasons — the first is that I wanted some experience with blogging tools.  I’ve been working in web-related activities ever since the web was invented (by Tim Berners-Lee, not Al Gore), but I never worked with blogging tools, so I want to give that a try.

The second reason is that I, like so many other bloggers, am a frustrated writer.  I love to write, but I don’t really know what to do about it.  I thought about journaling, but it seemed too much like singing in the shower.  If I keep all my writings to myself, then no one will ever appreciate them, learn from me, agree with me, or even argue with me.

So, with that, I will close this post. Here’s hoping that someone out will stumble upon this and engage with me.
